players for generous support of a cause that truly saves lives.
Please know whether you attend the Poker Palace to have fun or test your skill, you are helping
a serious mission.- the fight for healthy babies.
The March of Dimes funds research, education, community programs and advocacy for the
prevention of birth defects, premature births and infant mortality. Sadly, there is much to do.
Each week in Virginia, 222 babies are born too soon. Tiny survivors face cerebral palsy, vision
or hearing problems, heart defects, learning disabilities and sometimes even death.
The March of Dimes was founded by community members determine to improve the health of
our nation. Thank you for continuing the 68-year tradition of giving to make a difference in the
lives of others.

The Poker Palace has helped raise funds for our school for almost 2 years now. We want
to thank you the players for your continued support.
Portsmouth Catholic Elementary School (PCES)! PCES has a rich tradition in Catholic
Education, dating from the beginnings of Catholic schools in Portsmouth in 1886.
Although the Daughters of Charity withdrew their last two sisters from the school in 2000,
the dedicated staff remains, continuing to carry on the mission of those nuns by providing
a quality Catholic Education to young people from pre-K through eighth grade. It is a
testimony to the success of that mission over these many years that we frequently have
parents and grandparents express their gratitude for the education which they received at
PCES as well as for the excellent spiritual, moral and academic education their students
are currently receiving.
PCES offers a solid curriculum based on the Consensus Curriculum of the Diocese of
Richmond. In addition to the core subjects of Religion, Language Arts, Math, Social
Studies and Science, our students also have technology, Spanish, music, physical
education and art classes. Students from grades four through eight may join our
basketball teams and compete with other area Catholic schools. Other extra-curricular
activities include drama, band and a variety of clubs.
It is impossible in a web letter to communicate the loving, caring atmosphere that exists at
PCES, created by our faculty, staff and by the wonderful families who continue to place
their trust in the Christ-centered environment present here. We hope that you will
experience that atmosphere by scheduling a visit and either continuing or beginning a
family tradition at PCES.
